Quick Guide to Spotting Caribbean Coral

Coral reefs are disappearing at an alarming rate and documenting marine biodiversity has never been more important. The first step in protecting what we love is knowing what we have, but people often tell me how they struggle with identifying more unique or rare corals.

Not all coral is created equal, and while I’m not picking favorites, *wink* Scolymia, some corals are extra special to look out for, and every dive becomes a treasure hunt. Once your perception is in tune,  and can easily spot different coral growth forms and a range of polyp sizes, the underwater world grows infinitely larger, diving will never be the same.

This quick guide will help you identify most Caribbean corals at a glance.
